First Community Credit Union – Sunset Hills Branch
Wright Construction delivered a ground-up build for First Community Credit Union in Sunset Hills, creating a modern banking center designed to serve the community with convenience and efficiency.
The new 4,336-square-foot facility is located off South Lindbergh in the heart of Sunset Hills. It features a full-service banking center equipped with a drive-thru option, ensuring accessibility for all members. Designed to reflect the credit union’s brand and service needs, the branch provides a welcoming, professional environment while strengthening First Community’s presence in the community.
Project Spotlight: World War II Veterans Memorial
This Sunset Hills branch is also home to a newly dedicated World War II Veterans Memorial, co-sponsored with the Olga Despotis Perpetuities Trust.
The centerpiece is an 18,000-pound, 9-foot-tall black granite obelisk, etched with space for approximately 120 veteran names on each of its three sides. It also bears the emblems of six service branches: the Marine Corps, Navy, Army, Air Corps, Merchant Marines, and Coast Guard.
The memorial was formally dedicated on June 8, with community members, veterans, and service organizations in attendance. Among the honored guests was 101-year-old Marine Sgt. Ken Luttrell, whose service included four separate beach landings during WWII.
As Lt. Col. Ralph DePalma noted during the ceremony: “It’s good that we remember our history, because if we don’t remember our history and the sacrifices of those before us, we might not value our freedoms as much as we should.”
Wright Construction was honored to build a facility that not only serves the financial needs of Sunset Hills but also stands as a lasting tribute to the men and women who served in World War II.
